It was 12 past when I pushed my weary body to the bed to get
some sleep after a long day’s work. I saw superman flying high up the sky,
little kids with surprise appaulsing him. Then a well-built, sweet young boy
with his curled darling, once chiding and then laughing loud. The scenes were
not clear, neither had a proper sequence. I was running through unmatchable
plots, outlined in a mess. Suddenly I remembered my final exams are to begin in
another 24 hours’ time. The sun was burning bright and the stars have already
melted. It was a new day for another new chapter in my life. I jumped off the bed,
got my coffee along with the laptop, to browse on my lessons when I swiftly ran
through my Facebook profile.
A few days back I had a little conversation with Ignatious
Jayathilake , the founder director of Xtream Youth which is the SriLanka’s
largest online magazine covering all aspects of youth ranging from photography
to a way of life. My question for him was should anybody be compulsorily a
photographer to work with Xtream Youth. That time I knew very little about
Xtream Youth. Ignatious directed me to their website, and then I knew it was
not only photography but a synthesized version of a little bit of marketing,
administration, content writing and even things like announcing.
“Sometimes good things fall apart so that better things can
fall together”…I thought for myself today morning when I saw the post by Xtream
Youth calling out for techies, sports reporters and writers. There was no doubt
that I over flew with much delight as for opportunities are waving me out loud.
Right now I’m stuffed with work for tomorrow’s exam which will decide whether
I’m going to be a lawyer in this short run or not. There’s enough and more
acts, amendments, lengthy ordinances making me feel guilty for wasting time and
fooling around. But should I miss a chance for some anticipated good?
I remember what Appachchi always says. One of his
inspirations by Pat Frayne.
"I speak my mind because it hurts to bite my tongue.
The worth of a book is measured by what you carry away from it.
It's not over till it's over.
Imagination is everything.
All life is an experiment.
What the caterpillar calls the end of the world , the master calls the butterfly"
So far , I have seen many things , heard many things , touched things and some untouched but have kept trying to touch. There is a world that's completely strange to me. Many adventures and lessons to learn are yet to come . However I'll keep driving steadily , for things to happen or not to happen and never to forget to wear the seat belt because even life just like the road has its own ventures signaling ahead.
