Khanthaka the faithful
rode to "Anoma"
when kapilavattu
dipped in moonlight -
fast a sleep.
Waters gushing - piping hot
side by side
beating the rocks ,
Channa aside , teary - eyed
urged faintly
"My master , my master – do not leave !"
For Siddhartha unheard
gently departed
over the horizons ,
So khanthaka's heart bust
tears rolled down,
his eyes fixed on prince
flattened on a rock
wordlessly
died of sorrow !
